The History of the Business

The business began in 1998 as a commercial asset brokerage, trading under the style of CAF. As time passed customers began to seek additional support and the work moved into the areas of business advice and basic accounting. As this side of the business developed it seemed sensible to adopt a slightly different style and the name of Consort Services came into being.

This side of the business accounts for more than 50% of the revenue and is steadily growing. With one very local exception, I do not advertise and all new business comes from introduction; this has allowed me to retain complete control over the work. Anyone using this business will get personal service; the work is carried out by me and not passed to juniors in the office.

This means that you, as my customer, will be in close contact with the person looking after your interests. I expect to be able to give you sound and practical advice based on a good understanding of you, your business needs and the business itself.

Personal Background

My education includes a degree in Economics, from Essex University and a postgraduate diploma in Accounting & Finance from the ACCA. I hold a CPC National certificate and am a Consortium member of the RTITB Consortium for Driver CPC training.  In addition I have a Class 1 C+E licence for vehicles to 44 tonnes. Finally, I am a Director of a local Citizens Advice Bureau and was previously an adviser with that organisation.

My business background over some 40 years includes positions in sales and finance with Texaco, TIP, Foden Trucks & Craven Tasker. Within this period I spent a short spell as a profit analyst with British Steel at a time when they were losing £1 million a day. Don’t blame me it wasn’t my fault - you had to have a sense of humour!
